Graduate School
The University of Mississippi

In This Together!

The COVID-19 crisis and long-standing racism pandemic continue to create challenges. Progress in vaccine development led the University to return to full in-person experiences. Stay informed. Visit Office of the Provost’s COVID-19 Update for latest information.

The Graduate School is working to serve our campus and prospective students. We are open with normal business hours, and we monitor and follow campus protocols. We also invite individuals who need assistance to call us at 662-915-7474 or email us at gschool@olemiss.edu.

On These Pages

As we continue to move through the 2022-2023 academic year, we are committed to trying to create certainty where we can and to share information that we have available. Many other University of Mississippi websites contain information about current safety protocols and updates as the case counts, variants, and vaccination uptake evolve. On this site, we focus on information that may be particularly of use to graduate students. We recognize that graduate students have some unique requirements that present distinctive challenges. These pages contain resources and answers to common questions for graduate students.

In the Graduate School, we want to support you in completing your studies. We know that the idea of in-person contact can be exciting and a bit intimidating with the ever-evolving state of the pandemic and virus variants. Many of our graduate students were not able to visit loved ones in person for well over a year (and for some, they still cannot travel to see family due to the state of the virus spread and/or management practices where other family members and loved ones are located). We will continue offering opportunities to continue connecting with others and support your professional development.

These pages are living documents that we will update as more information becomes available. We invite you to contact us at gschool@olemiss.edu if you have questions not answered here. Most likely, you are not the only one who needs the information. We will work to try to assist you with challenges you face.

Assistantships and COVID

Graduate students who hold graduate assistantships can find information for University employees at https://hr.olemiss.edu/coronavirus/. Graduate assistants are considered university employees. Students with graduate assistantships should consult with their supervisors about an adaptation to their work activities while we respond to the evolving situation as a campus community. We encourage all members of the campus community to follow guidance on good hygiene and other practices that help protect against COVID-19.

Supporting Success During Uncertainty

However long the disruption lasts, we encourage University of Mississippi Graduate Students to use the guidance on these pages to continue to continue your studies and research flexibly, quickly, and collaboratively.
