Bog Turtle Creek Farm Sustainability

Bog Turtle Creek Farm is a student-led regenerative agriculture project that was created in response to a need to increase access to healthy, affordable food in the City of Reading.

Bog Turtle plays a primary role in the City of Reading farmers market program, where it sells fresh, affordable produce at more than four markets to residents most in need and who often use government assistance (e.g., SNAP, FMNP). These markets include the Penn Street Market, Penn State Health St. Joseph's Medical Center, Centro Hispano, Berks Encore, and multiple pop-up markets at elementary schools and community organizations in partnership with The Food Trust’s nutrition education program.

The Community Supported Agriculture Program (CSA) is a great way to get local fresh produce from a place you can trust. Bog Turtle Creek Farm uses natural growing practices to ensure its produce, which is picked fresh from our local farm daily, is free of pesticides and herbicides. We encourage our CSA members to pick up their produce share at our farm so you can meet the student team and see where and how your food is grown. We also have a variety of other locally made products for sale at our onsite EcoHouse Market.
