Event provides thousands of Thanksgiving birds to community members

For the past three decades, Alvernia University has provided thousands of turkeys to community members. We are back again for the 35th Annual Turkey Drive with partners Redner's Markets and Jaindl Turkey Farms. Please consider joining us this year by making a gift.

This year's Turkey Drive will be held on Monday, Nov. 21, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

"The Turkey Drive is one of my favorite traditions at Alvernia," said Tracy Hine, executive assistant for University Life and Mission & Ministry. "I think it encapsulates all five of our core values: service to our community, humility by recognizing that we all need a helping hand from time to time and that there is a community willing to respond to the needs of our fellow citizens, contemplation as we stop and give thanks on this bountiful holiday and share our gifts with our fellow brothers and sisters, collegiality as the Alvernia family comes together to pull off this monumental event every year for the past 34 years, and peace-making – a tradition that has survived the test of time because it brings out the best in all of us, a day for helping make our small part of the world, a better place to live."
