Listen to Selected Works

At a Glance

Barry Douglas, Camerata Ireland, and guests Celine Byrne and Eimear McGeown bring an enchanting mix of music to Carnegie Hall. The first half of the concert features the three soloists, individually, in works by Beethoven, Mercadante, Mozart, and Handel. The second part of the program sees a shift to music from the performers’ heritage. Some nocturnes by the Dublin-born John Field and an aria by Michael William Balfe act as a neat “bridge” to a selection of traditional airs and dances, from the iconic “The Lark in the Clear Air” and “I wish I was in Carrickfergus” to the more contemporary “Inis” by Eimear McGeown and “Barry’s Reels” by Catriona McKay and Chris Stout. A true celebration of music making by some of Ireland’s most talented performers.
