Marc-André Hamelin, Piano

Thursday, March 31, 2022 8 PM Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage

Sir András Schiff has regrettably withdrawn from this recital due to a recent fall that has compromised his ability to travel. Marc-André Hamelin will perform in his place.

Marc-André Hamelin by Sim Canetty-Clarke
“A performer of near-superhuman technical prowess” (The New York Times), Marc-André Hamelin returns to Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage with a program that fundamentally and passionately celebrates the piano. Beethoven’s “Hammerklavier” Sonata is one of the instrument’s greatest (and most challenging) works, a Herculean piece that astounds in capable hands. Of Hamelin’s expert treatment of C. P. E. Bach’s keyboard compositions, Gramophone “cannot think of a better introduction to C. P. E. Bach on the modern piano.”
