Alarm Will Sound

Heard
Tuesday, March 26, 2024 7:30 PM Zankel Hall
Alarm Will Sound by Michal Ramus
“One of the most vital and original ensembles on the American music scene” (The New York Times), Alarm Will Sound performs as part of a visionary series of concerts curated by Tania León, holder of Carnegie Hall’s 2023–2024 Debs Composer’s Chair. In this evening’s concert, the ensemble weaves together the music and formative stories of León and six exceptional composers working in America today, each hailing from disparate parts of the world (Havana, East St. Louis, Seoul, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Camuy) and working across an eclectic array of musical styles. Together, the composers represent a powerful cross-section of America’s musical melting pot. In this daring new program, titled “Heard,” the ensemble of “next-generation thinkers” (Time Out New York) presents their sounds and stories in a rich musical portrait of 21st-century America.
