Quick commerce is the next level of modern eCommerce: The trend is characterized by extremely short delivery times. Products bought from quick commerce stores are delivered within two to three hours maximum, many times even within one hour from checkout. Providers are able to guarantee the extremely fast deliveries through streamlined processes, innovations in warehousing and accelerated delivery tours – quick commerce products are mostly delivered by bicycle or scooter, which move faster in dense traffic than cars of vans. Quick commerce is a trend with high potential, already attracting many customers in countries like Germany: 57% of German consumers have already purchased something from a quick commerce website or can imagine trying out the innovative eCommerce trend in the near future, according to a Statista survey. But also on a global scale, quick commerce is a promising innovation, as current funding activities show:

Statista and Crunchbase have published a list of leading quick commerce start-ups from all over the world and their recent funding. The data show that U.S.-based goPuff is by far the most well-funded start-up in the quick commerce field in this comparison of global players. With a total of US$3.4 billion in funding received before March 2022, goPuff can count on almost twice as much financial resources as second-placed getir. The quick commerce player from Turkey received total funding of US$1.8 billion. Miss Fresh, a Chinese competitor, comes closely behind with US$1.7 billion in funding. Three more players received amounts greater than US$1 billion: The two German players Gorillas and Flink, and another player from China – Dingdong. In general, players from various different countries receive a substantial amount of financial support. Quick commerce does thus indeed look like the up-and-coming global trend in eCommerce.
