What is the Torch Awards for Ethics (Torch Award)?
The Torch Awards for Ethics is an annual awards program to publicly recognize local companies that have practices in place that elevate their commitment to ethical business. The Torch Awards for Ethics is designed to not only promote the importance of building trust, but also the willingness and efforts made by outstanding businesses to help contribute to an honorable marketplace. This is the highest honor that BBB bestows upon a company and embodies the Better Business Bureau® mission of advancing marketplace trust.
This award is open to all for-profit businesses located in Central, Northern & Western Arizona who are in good standing with BBB. Accreditation with BBB is not required.
How does it work?
A company must first be nominated for the award.* After the nomination period, all qualified nominees will be asked to complete an online application.
*Multiple nominations do not increase chances.
Criteria
BBB has distilled our intentional focus on trust and ethics into four C’s – Character, Culture, Customers, Community, and this is the basis for the Torch Awards entry process. The application outlines the character of the organization’s leadership, how an authentic culture is being fostered, how the company prioritizes its relationship with customers, and the impact the organization is making in their community.
The Judging Process
Entries are reviewed by an independent, voluntary panel of judges comprised of business and community leaders. The judges determine the finalists and award recipients for each category.
Eligibility
Any non-government affiliated company is eligible to apply if they have:
Been in business for 3 years or longer (turn 3 years anytime within the application calendar year)
Earned an “A” rating from the BBB
Met all financial obligations
Not won this award in the past 3 years
