In addition to the bike race, the 2023 Curiosity Lab Criterium will feature an array of innovative technologies being deployed to improve roadway safety for vulnerable road users (VRUs). This event will showcase the VRU safety technology of tomorrow as exhibited by private sector V2X and sensor innovators, OEMs, hardware and software manufacturers, government transportation officials, bike companies, trade associations, advocacy groups and more. City of Peachtree Corners and Curiosity Lab believe in using the latest smart city technologies to not only make roadways safer and more efficient for drivers, but also for VRUs such as cyclists and pedestrians to save lives across the country.

Denver and Turin-based technology company Spoke, is transforming cyclist safety on roadways using Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) technology. Spoke is dedicated to orchestrating a complete digital experience for the most vulnerable on our roadways by connecting them to the mobility ecosystem around them. This technology ensures VRUs see cars and cars see VRUs before the naked eye can even detect them.

Partnered with Audi, the company will showcase its C-V2X unit built for cyclists and demonstrate how this technology works using Audi’s vehicle-based C-V2X technology. Spoke’s C-V2X unit alerts vehicles where a biker is in relation to their vehicle, what direction they are coming from and if they are moving or stopped. Spoke units can also be placed on motorcycles and pedestrians, making this a game-changing application of C-V2X technology that will work to save lives across the country.
