Nashville, Tennessee –United Methodist Communications’ Training Team is launching the first in a new series of four week facilitated online courses. The Communicating During Seasons of Change course will run October 18th through November 12th, 2021. Webinar sessions will take place each Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00-2:00pm CT with weekly supplemental work. Registration is open through October 15th.

The classes will present facilitated live training sessions led by communications experts from United Methodist Communications. Participants will be prompted to utilize interactive eLearning modules, read articles, watch videos, engage in the live sessions and interact on a discussion board. Topics to be discussed include:

  • Week 1- Understanding Your Church's Season of Change
  • Week 2- Assessing Your Church and Planning for a Cultural Change
  • Week 3- Communication in Times of Rapid Change
  • Week 4- Implementing Communication Effectively

This course resembles a more traditional class model than the Training Team’s recent virtual conferences,” says United Methodist Communications’ Senior Training and Development Specialist John Haney. “We believe participants will enjoy the opportunity to engage with this topic over the course of several weeks. Not only will they learn from the experts, they’ll also learn from each other.”

“The pandemic highlighted the need for trusted communications training for churches to excel in ministry despite their circumstances,” notes Director of Training and Development Jeremy Brown. “Our team trained 4,930 leaders in 2020 which was double the previous year’s number, and 2021 is showing continued demand. We want people to know that we’re here and can help with proven techniques.”

In addition to the facilitated course, church leaders can access United Methodist Communications’ self-serve online training courses. Each offers professional instruction to enhance communications skills with the added benefit of convenience to accommodate busy schedules.
