Why we started and what we value as a contractor

In 2007, Robert Hamerly started GreenSavers with the belief that contractors can do better. We believe that while it’s important to keep costs down, we need to value the efficiency and overall quality of the systems we’re putting into homes. GreenSavers specializes in expertly designed, energy efficient systems that perform reliably over time. In particular, we install efficient HVAC systems, new insulation, and Milgard windows for homeowners in Portland and Bend, Oregon - all with a satisfaction guarantee.
HOW WE’RE DIFFERENT
GreenSavers is a dedicated home performance contractor. That means that we take a systems approach to home improvement. When we recommend an upgrade, like wall insulation, we work to understand how that upgrade effects other areas of your home, like air quality in your bedroom and moisture buildup in your bathroom. For the last eight years in a row, GreenSavers won the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Contractor of the Year Award from the U.S. DOE and U.S. EPA. We won the award because of our professionalism and because of our commitment to home energy efficiency in Portland and Bend, Oregon. Over the last 12-months alone, our clients saved enough energy to offset more than 822 tons of carbon dioxide or power about 94 homes for a year.
Saving all that energy means that our clients save a fair amount on their energy bills. As an example, consider water heaters. We replace standard electric water heaters with Rheem heat pump water heaters, which are estimated to save a family of 4 about $330 a year and $3,470 over the life of the system (Source: ENERGY STAR). We also like the Rheem water heater because its stainless steel elements prevent buildup and extend the designed lifespan by about 3-years. The same attention to detail applies to all of the systems we recommend, from environmentally responsible insulation to windows with a lifetime guarantee.

We use business as a force for good. Our clients get reliable, energy efficient HVAC systems, insulation, and windows. When we help clients, our communities benefit from a more efficient use of resources and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. The work that we do is a small but important part of addressing climate change, which is perhaps the greatest challenge of our time.

Looking to the future, we're inspired to go beyond energy efficiency, helping clients live in homes with no net energy consumption. This means making homes highly efficient, then installing solar panels to offset any energy drawn from the grid. That's a future we’d like to see. Let’s work together to get there.
