FEI POLICY FOR ENHANCED COMPETITION SAFETY DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

The FEI Policy for Enhanced Competition Safety during the Covid-19 Pandemic applies to all FEI Events held as of 1 July 2020 in order to mitigate the risk of transmission and further spread of Covid-19. This policy was developed based on currently accepted best practices by the World Health Organization (WHO) and US Center for Disease Control (CDC). Since the initial implementation, it received several updates reflecting the evolution of the medical practice and tools available to manage the Covid-19 situation. The latest update was made on 18 February 2022.

The FEI Policy for Enhanced Competition Safety during the Covid-19 Pandemic does not intend to replace the locally applicable legislation and policies from domestic government and health authorities. Rather, it supplements their recommendations with important sport-specific considerations.

In its current version (18 February 2022) the FEI Policy for Enhanced Competition Safety during the Covid-19 Pandemic includes:

  • A framework outlining the policy's objectives; roles and responsibilities; and requirements ranging from recommendation to mandatory elements; and,
  • Additional Guidelines and Protocols which will be published on the FEI website as the need arises and must be considered as annexes to the main document.

The FEI Policy for Enhanced Competition Safety during the Covid-19 Pandemic is continually reviewed and updated as new information becomes available.
