Jon Mark Hall was appointed to the position of USI Director of Athletics in January of 2002. He moved into the position after spending seven years as the assistant director of athletics. 

Under his direction, USI was the GLVC Commissioner's Cup in 2017-18, while taking both the Great Lakes Valley Conference All-Sports and Commissioner's Cup in 2003-04. USI also has hosted of the NCAA Division II Cross Country national championships three times (2004, 2009, 2017) as well as the NCAA II Men's Basketball Elite Eight in 2002, 2014, 2015, and 2019. The University also will host the 2020, 2021, and 2022 Elite Eights and the 2020 Cross Country National Championships 

In addition to his duties as director of athletics, Hall has served on several national committees, including the NCAA II  men's and women's tennis committee and the NCAA II Great Lakes/Midwest Region men's and women's basketball committees. Hall also has been the chair of the NCAA II men's basketball and the men's/women's tennis committees. 

Under Hall's supervision, the USI Department of Athletics has seen its teams win a total of 45 GLVC Championships and make 82 NCAA post-season appearances. Additionally, the USI has won NCAA II national championships in baseball (2010, 2014) and softball (2018); appeared in the NCAA II Men's Basketball Elite Eight twice (2004, 2019); appeared in the NCAA II Baseball Championship series five times (2007, 2010, 2014, 2016, 2018); the NCAA II Softball Championship three times (2017, 2018, 2022); had 11 individual track & field national championships during Hall's tenure. 

Academically, USI student-athletes have consistently excelled in the class room under Hall's leadership, where they have maintained a cumulative 3.1 GPA or better each year. USI's graduation rate also has consistently been in the upper third of the 16-member GLVC.

Hall also has overseen facility upgrades at the USI Baseball and Softball Fields, Strassweg Field (soccer), and the Screaming Eagles Arena/Physical Activities Center (basketball/volleyball).

Hall joined the USI Athletic Department in 1995 as an assistant athletic director and men's tennis coach.

As the men's tennis coach, no one did it better in the GLVC than Hall. He was named the GLVC Coach of the Year five times, directed the Screaming Eagles to four GLVC regular season titles and GLVC Tournament crowns and to a 123-47 record (.724).

During his finals season as head coach, Hall led the Eagles to its third straight appearance in the NCAA II Tournament and their first victory in the post-season. In 2000 and 2001, Hall put the Eagles on the national map with its first two invitations to the NCAA II Tournament in the 27-year history of the program. 

Hall came to USI after a tenure at the University of South Carolina-Upstate (formerly Spartanburg) as an assistant athletic director, where he was the NCAA compliance coordinator, oversaw the academic support service program for student athletes, and coordinated the Athletes Can Educate (ACE) program. He also assisted in fund-raising and promotion activities.

The native of Murray, Ky., is a 1990 cum laude graduate from Murray State University, with a bachelor's degree in business administration. While at MSU, Hall was on the tennis team for two seasons, earning Academic All-Ohio Valley Conference honors in 1987. Hall received his master's degree in sports administration from Ohio State University in 1992.

In 1998-99, he completed the Sports Management Institute Executive Program at the University of South Carolina and the University of Notre Dame.

Hall and his wife Patti reside in Evansville and have five sons, Nathan, Garland, Ty, Owen, and Calvin and a daughter, Mary Claire.
