Emma DeHart '22 joined the USI Women's Basketball coaching staff ahead of the 2022-23 season as an assistant coach, following her playing career in a USI uniform from 2017-22.

DeHart helped lead Southern Indiana to a historical, championship season in 2023-24, as USI won the 2023-24 Ohio Valley Conference regular season and tournament championship titles. The two OVC championships were the first OVC team championships in USI Athletics history. By winning the OVC, Southern Indiana made its first-ever appearance in the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). The Screaming Eagles went 25-7 overall and 17-1 in conference play.

In a historic first season for USI in the Ohio Valley Conference and as an NCAA Division I program in 2022-23, DeHart helped coach the Screaming Eagles into a new era. In USI's first D-I season, the Screaming Eagles won 12 games overall, including the program's first six wins in the Ohio Valley Conference.

DeHart was a three-time All-GLVC honoree and five-time Academic All-GLVC member while playing for the Screaming Eagles under Stein. In five seasons in a USI uniform, DeHart was a part of 98 wins. She finished her career ranked No. 1 all-time at USI in games played (126), No. 2 in three-point field goals attempted (433), No. 8 in free throws made (296) and three-point field goals made (127), No. 9 in free throws attempts (389), No. 12 in scoring (1,189) and assists (230). In her career, DeHart scored in double-figures 59 times, including seven 20-point outings.

Her career-high 39 points came in 2020-21 in a come-from-behind overtime road win over Rockhurst. The 39 points tied Amie Newhart and LeAnn Freeland for third on USI’s all-time single-game scoring list and was the most points ever scored by a USI women’s basketball player in a road win.

DeHart is a Indianapolis, Indiana native, where she played for Southport High School.
