Teachers in the State of Florida are also heroes in the fight against COVID-19. They have turned their living rooms into pseudo-classrooms and made themselves available by phone and e-mail 24 hours a day.  They've done this without hesitation and with a unique enthusiasm - one that for the rest of the world has been difficult to keep during this difficult time.  Teachers are exhausted, overworked, and overwhelmed. With most schools set to end the semester at the end of May, it is inexcusable that Governor DeSantis reopen schools on May 1st.  The CDC has stressed that individuals who are asymptomatic continue to serve as invisible contagions of COVID-19. Children can be, and are often asymptomatic carriers of Covid-19Children are substantially less likely to present with severe COVID-19 symptoms. Reopening schools in May would put our teachers at risk and exponentially propagate the virus. The State of Florida is expected to peak just before the beginning of May.  We are asking that Governor Desantis does NOT open up schools May 1st.
