October marks the anniversary of when I became a writer: I wrote my very first free booklet, “8 Steps to Happiness and Prosperity” in Japanese back in 2001. Not long after, I officially began my career as a published author, and now 20 years later I’m celebrating two decades of writing and speaking on the topics of happiness and money. 

It is all thanks to the support and encouragement of the readers who have supported me along the way. Thank you so much!

This essay contest was my idea to give something back to all of you who have given so much to me as a way to celebrate my 20th anniversary as an author. There are several presents awaiting those who participate too, so if you’re interested please take a look and check them out!

Although I’ve been very active in Japanese over these 20 years, I’ve only just gotten started in English since the publication of my book, “Happy Money” in 2019. I’m still so touched by the people who reach out to me to tell me how my work has changed their lives for the better.
