Two Women Dancing at Dance Workshop
Southbank Centre / Belinda Lawley

From the comfort of your living room, join us for an evening of dancing and jazz with Strictly Come Dancing ballroom experts, broadcast from The Clore Ballroom, Royal Festival Hall.

The tea dance is hosted by one of our most popular ballroom DJs, Mr Wonderful, and former Senior British Ballroom Champion, Janet Cunningham-Clayton.

Warm up your winter with foxtrot, waltz and tango.

Some of BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing judges and professional dancers make special cameo appearances during the event.

Strictly Come Dancing’s head judge, Shirley Ballas, said: 'The Southbank Centre’s virtual winter tea dance is a brilliant way to get dancing at a time when we are unable to physically access our local arts centres and dance classes.

'It’s so important to keep active and keep our spirits up and I hope people of all ages across the UK join in from their living rooms and kitchens, as well as everyone in care homes across the country. I am thrilled to be making a guest appearance!'

In between the DJ sets, there are festive jazz numbers from ensemble Tomorrow's Warriors.

So pick out an outfit, push back your sofa and get ready for an event taking place all over the UK.

Experienced dancers and beginners are equally welcome. There's plenty of opportunity to learn some new moves standing or sitting in front of your screen.

We’re trying to reach as many living rooms as possible across the UK. We're also particularly keen to bring live music and dancing into care homes and hospitals this year. Through our partnership with NAPA Arts in Care Homes, 3,000 care homes across the UK are invited to join this event.

To help care homes get ready to join us, we’ve collaborated with Clare Carswell from Blossom Arts to create a free resource pack.
